A half-round plastic profile 3.2 mm in diameter, a 35 cm length. Laid flat side down against a wall it stands in for piping, conduit or a broken off cylindrical part.
Responsibility details are not available.
This section has a flat bottom and an arched top, so once glued down it looks like a pipe run tight along a sheet of metal. That is exactly how hydraulic lines on machinery, cable bundles in a protective conduit or rainwater downpipes on buildings are laid, and it saves the modeler the laborious bending of a round rod, which tends to lift away from the base.
Cylindrical projections are among the most vulnerable things on a model. When one breaks off, it is usually easier to sand the remainder flat and glue a piece of half-round in its place than to try to glue the original fragment back. The result holds more firmly, because the glued joint has a full face rather than a thin break.
A diameter of 3.2 mm is the heaviest step of the half-round profiles in this range; below it come 2.5, 2.0, 1.5 and 1.0 mm. On a vehicle in 1:35 that corresponds to piping almost eleven centimeters in diameter, and on a ship model to a heavy run along the superstructure. Many short sections are cut from a 35 cm length and the rest stays in reserve.
Besides lines, the arched section serves as a stiffener under floor plating, as the outline of a welded seam on a tank, as a railing run low over a deck or as the bottom of a bumper. Once glued on, it is enough to go over the edge with fine abrasive so that the transition into the surface disappears, and to paint the run in a different color from its surroundings. A spare section can be cut and kept in reserve straight away.
