A styrene U-shaped profile 7.9 mm wide. The largest size in the whole range, suitable for vehicle frames, bridge girders and ramp edging. The hollow inside takes a brace or a lighting wire.

The open U shape gives this strip a stiffness that a solid bar will never have. The width of 7.9 mm is the upper limit of the range - below it the sizes continue with 6.3, 4.8, 4.0, 3.2, 2.5, 2.0 and 1.5 mm, so you can keep one shape throughout a build and change only the size. The material is white styrene, that is, the same stuff that injection-molded kit parts are made of.
Converted into 1:35 scale the width works out at roughly twenty-eight centimeters of real structure. That matches the side member of a truck frame, the footing of a crane or the edging of a loading ramp. On a railroad it becomes bridge girders and guide strips, and on ship models the edging of decks. The hollow will also take a lighting wire or a brass bar that stiffens a long part against bowing.
Short pieces can be separated with a knife: score one wall and snap the profile off. On longer parts a modeling saw and a simple miter box pay off, because squareness of the cut is harder to keep on a thin wall. The joint is held by thin cement for styrene, which is led into the seam with a brush and melts the material in it. Sanding, drilling and filing all proceed without chipping and the surface can be smoothed to a shine.
