Unionmodel Red Eagle (hand-launched glider kit)

The Red Eagle is a kit for a small hand-launched glider from Unionmodel. The model goes together from light parts, and once built it is balanced and launched by hand with a throw, without a motor or radio control. It is an undemanding and quick project, well suited to a first acquaintance with aerodynamics and with building aircraft.

How it works

Hand-launched gliders are the simplest category of flying models. The glide depends on getting the center of gravity balanced and the lifting surfaces set correctly, so the model also offers a little trimming and experimenting. Fly it outdoors in the open in still air or a light wind.

Building tips

Follow the instructions provided, glue the parts with a suitable modeling glue and take care that the wing and the tail surfaces go together straight and symmetrically. Once built, finish the model as needed and trim the balance before the first throws. Glue and other tools may not be included in the package.
