About product

Mr.Paint Richthofen's Red (Krapplack Rot)

Mr.Paint Richthofen's Red (Krapplack Rot) is a lacquer-based modeling paint from the Slovak maker Mr.Paint. It is not a kit but a paint in a 30 ml bottle, pre-thinned and ready to spray with an airbrush straight from the bottle. Lacquer paints are thinned with lacquer thinner, not with water; they dry very fast and form an extremely thin, smooth layer with strong coverage that preserves even fine engraving and surface detail. It is applied with an airbrush only.

Richthofen's Red is a dark red shade of the Krapplack type (madder lake red) such as the German air service used during the First World War. It is associated with the famous red-painted machines of Manfred von Richthofen and his fighter unit.

Use

  • Applied with an airbrush only, in thin coats straight from the bottle.
  • Sprayed over a cured primer, which evens out both coverage and adhesion.
  • Fast drying allows early masking and the layering of further shades.
  • Use lacquer thinner of the same brand for thinning and cleaning, never water.
  • The period German red of First World War aircraft

Who it is for

For modelers who want to paint the period German red of a First World War aircraft in an accurate shade according to the standard. Given the way it is applied, it will be appreciated mainly by airbrush users - from more advanced beginners to experienced builders.

Lacquer paints are flammable and contain solvents. Apply with an airbrush only, in a well ventilated area, away from open flame, and use a respirator or other respiratory protection. Keep out of the reach of children.

FAQ

It is a lacquer-based paint. It is thinned with lacquer thinner, not water - water would ruin it. It is not interchangeable with acrylic or enamel paints.

The paint is intended and pre-thinned for the airbrush and is applied with it only, in very thin coats. Its fast drying and thin consistency do not suit ordinary brush work.
