Rolling Pin Chinese is a Green Stuff World texture roller with a pattern in the Chinese style. It is a tool with which the texture is pressed into soft modeling putty.

Rolling Pin Chinese belongs to the Green Stuff World range of texture rollers. It is not a putty and not a paint but a tool: a pattern in the Chinese style is engraved over the surface of the roller and a single pass presses it into rolled-out soft putty, creating a regular decorated surface for bases, floors and diorama walls. One roller will last hundreds of impressions, so the same motif can be repeated absolutely identically across a whole series of bases.
The surest result comes from polymer clay: knead the putty, roll it out into an even layer, press the pattern in and then cure the sheet in an oven according to the instructions of the putty maker. A cured panel can be cut, sanded and drilled with no risk of the pattern being deformed in further work. With two-part putties work quickly while the material is still pliable, and coat the roller and your hands with talc or water to stop sticking. Choose the pressure so that the pattern is pressed in but the putty is not squeezed out sideways; with too thin a layer the impression goes right through and the panel tears. Wash the roller immediately when you have finished.
A motif in the Chinese style suits East Asian scenes - courtyards, temples, garden paving, decorative low walls and interiors - and equally well fantasy subjects inspired by the Far East. On a figure base it can by itself set the surroundings in which the scene takes place.
For diorama builders and wargamers who make their own terrain and bases and need a decorative surface of consistent quality. It makes most sense when you are planning several pieces with the same motif.
Modeling putty and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Clean the roller after use while the putty residue is still soft.
