Rolling Pin Flagstone 15mm is a texture roller from the Spanish brand Green Stuff World with a flagstone motif, that is flat irregular stone slabs such as were laid in courtyards, the corridors of castles and paths up to buildings. Green Stuff World texture rollers serve to imprint a pattern into rolled-out modeling putty in one pass. What arises is a continuous area with a regular texture that cannot be drawn or engraved as quickly or as evenly. The figure 15mm in the name sets this version apart from the otherwise identical pattern with a different size of stone element, which the brand offers alongside it.
Flat stone slabs suit historical and fantasy scenes alike: a castle courtyard, a monastery cloister, a square, the entrance to a temple, but also the floor of a dungeon. Believability is raised a great deal by finishing a few slabs by hand with a crack or set slightly out of true; a machine-perfect area looks lifeless. The pattern is universal enough to be used under figures and under vehicles.
It will be appreciated by builders of dioramas, by players who make their own terrain, and by everyone who wants their bases in one uniform style. A roller lasts practically indefinitely, so a one-off purchase is spread across dozens of bases.
