Round Wood display bases 10 cm - Hazelnut Brown

A round wooden display base in a hazelnut shade

The circular plan ten centimeters across is based on a fiberboard panel whose surface is covered by a clear coat in a warm brown tone. The rounded edge has no corners to catch on, and a circle also lets a model be viewed from all sides without the feeling that it is turned the wrong way. A circle also sits better with the rounded shapes of hulls, barrels and stone plinths.

When to choose brown instead of black

A black panel creates a sharp contrast and suits modern equipment as well as dark uniforms. A brown wooden tone, on the other hand, chimes with historical figures, wooden structures, horses, ship models and everything that has earthy colors in its palette. In a display case with warm lighting it looks less austere than a varnished black and takes fingerprints better.

Seating and care

Anchor the model through a pin sunk into the panel; on light figures a drop of super glue on a roughened spot is enough. The finished surface only needs wiping with a dry cloth, as solvents could dull the clear coat. If you want to add a name plate to the base, bear in mind that on darker wood light or brass lettering stands out better than dark printing.
