About product

Landing flaps for the Boeing 737-600/700/800 in 1:144 scale

A resin set for modelers who want to build the next generation Boeing 737 in 1:144 scale with the flaps in the landing position. Unlike the other accessories of this range, these are not engines but the high-lift devices of the trailing edge of the wing. It is not a model of the aircraft, but a detail part that is built into a model.

The real subject and the point of the set

The 600, 700 and 800 subtypes make up the next generation Boeing 737 with a new wing, which compared with the older series has a greater span and a modified profile. On the trailing edge sit multi-stage Fowler flaps, which on extension move backward and at the same time drop, so that slots arise between the individual elements. Under the wing there belong with them the marked aerodynamic fairings over the flap tracks, which are typical of the silhouette of this aircraft. Most plastic kits have the wing cast in one piece and the flaps only suggested by engraving, so a model can be built in the flight position only. This set replaces that part of the wing and opens up a second possibility, that is a machine captured shortly before touchdown, which looks quite different in a display case.

Working with resin

Count on it being necessary, depending on the kit used, to cut the original trailing edge off. Try the whole procedure dry first, draw the outline and cut rather less; adding material is worse than taking it away. The thin resin castings of the flaps are fragile, they are held by their surface, not by an edge, and are sanded only with light strokes. They are glued with super glue, which unlike cement for plastic allows no later correction, so set the position beforehand and fix it with masking tape. Do not inhale the dust from sanding.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of the next generation Boeing 737 in 1:144 scale
  • Modelers who want to display the aircraft in the landing configuration
  • More experienced builders who dare to intervene into the wing
  • Collectors of airliners with an emphasis on the detail of the high-lift devices

The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

Flaps, that is the high-lift devices of the trailing edge of the wing. In this range the engines are covered by separate sets.

Depending on the kit used it tends to be necessary. Try the procedure dry, draw the outline and take the material away in small stages.

The older series have a different wing, so it is not advisable. The set matches the next generation subtypes given in the name.

With super glue. Set the position beforehand and fix it with masking tape; correction after it has set is no longer possible.
