AK interactive Rust Effect (Efecto Oxido)

A modeling product for creating a realistic rust and corrosion effect from manufacturer AK interactive. This is not an ordinary rust-colored paint — it is a two-part system, and the rust genuinely forms on the surface. First a special acrylic paint is brushed on, and once it dries, an oxidizing agent follows. This reacts with the paint and airborne oxygen, gradually creating an irregular, grainy rusty texture on the surface that is hard to imitate by painting alone. The result therefore looks convincing even up close and in photos.

Use

• Brush the acrylic component onto the spot where rust should form and let it dry.
• Apply the oxidizing agent onto the dried paint and let it act — the effect develops gradually as the reaction proceeds.
• The agent can be thinned with water; a weaker concentration gives a subtler bloom, a stronger one more pronounced corrosion.
• Ideal for metal surfaces on models: vehicle hulls and tanks, exhausts, barrels, sheet metal, rails, and industrial and diorama elements.
• The effect can be refined with pigments, washes, or other products for richer rust color transitions.
• Before applying it to a finished model, test the process on a scrap piece — the result depends on the amount used and the time it's left to act.

Who the product is for

For modelers of military hardware, diorama builders, and anyone building industrial or post-apocalyptic scenes — anywhere a surface should look abandoned, neglected, and rusted. Even a somewhat advanced beginner can manage it — the principle is simple, and the only tricky part is judging the degree so the effect doesn't look overdone.

A chemical product. Use in a well-ventilated space, protect your eyes and skin, do not inhale the fumes, and do not use it on dishes or items that come into contact with food. Keep out of the reach of children. Seal the containers carefully after use.
