This is a product for looking after tools, not a paint, a glue or a product meant for a model itself. A thin layer of oil separates polished steel from the moisture in the air and so prevents surface rust from forming. Check the volume of the package and the composition on the box.
When the oil pays off
Modeling tools suffer above all at the times when they are not in use. Nippers with a thin single-bevel edge, tweezers and scribers have polished surfaces on which rust shows at once, and once it attacks the edge, a clean cut or a smooth engraved line is gone. The risk grows when tools are stored in a cellar, a garage or a closed bag where damp condenses. It is also worth oiling tools you take to a modeling meeting.
For anyone who has bought better modeling tools and does not want to replace them after a year. The maintenance takes a few seconds.
Apply the oil in a thin layer and only to metal. It does not belong on the plastic of a model, on glued joints or on surfaces to be painted, because neither glue nor paint holds on a greasy surface. Store the container closed and out of the reach of children.
