Six acrylic shades for the equipment and aircraft deployed on the Nationalist side in the Spanish Civil War, including dark gray, brown earth, sand yellow and olive green.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Spanish Civil War became a testing ground for the equipment that a few years later was fighting all over Europe. Deliveries from Germany and Italy arrived for the Nationalist side, so light tanks, armored cars and combat aircraft appeared on the peninsula in the factory finish of the maker, which was only modified on the spot to suit the terrain.
Inside there is a dark gray to the German standard, a brown earth, a sand yellow, an olive green, a gray-green and a darker red-brown intended for shading. The combination covers both the base factory finish of the imported vehicles and the transition to the more muted ground tones of the dry Spanish landscape.
The dark gray will serve as an overall base for equipment of German origin, the sand yellow and olive green for creating the irregular patches that were at the time sprayed by hand right at the unit. The red-brown tone belongs in the recesses, under overhangs and into the shadows beneath stowed gear, where it will add depth to the model.
The material is water-thinnable and suits an airbrush as well as a brush. Before work the contents have to be stirred thoroughly, because the pigment settles to the bottom. Finished surfaces last longer when a clear coat seals them; that at the same time prepares the surface for applying decals and for subsequently picking out details. Shades from one series can be mixed with one another freely, so you can also tune tones that are not among the six to match period photographs.
