Splash Gel Flaming Orange - splatter in fiery orange

A weathering paste from the Spanish brand Green Stuff World, from the Splash Gel line. It is neither a paint for areas nor a wash: it is a thick compound that holds the shape of a droplet once applied and does not run, so that a three-dimensional splash with an edge and a trail comes out of it. The Flaming Orange shade is a saturated fiery orange, that is the color of hot metal, of a fire effect and of rust-tinted mud.

Application technique

• Pick a small amount up on a bristle brush and flick it onto the model with your thumb, which gives a naturally irregular scatter of droplets.
• Work from the bottom upward and in several passes, as the density can be controlled better that way than with one large application.
• Cover the surrounding areas that are meant to stay clean with paper beforehand, because the overspray travels further than you expect.
• Pick the excess up at once while the compound is damp, as after drying it is hard to correct.

What it is suited to

On the undersides of vehicles and the legs of large figures, where it tells what the model has been through, on bases with lava or desert terrain, and on science fiction and fantasy subjects, where the orange is to represent a hot trail, sparks or an eruption of hot material. In earthy scenes it works as rusty muddy slurry from ferrous soil.

Who the paste is for

For players and painters of figures who do not want a model to look freshly unpacked, and for builders of bases and terrain. The effect is strong, so it pays to try it on a spare figure first.
