A solid brass bar of square cross-section. Unlike a hollow tube of the same dimension it cannot be crushed or squashed flat and it takes twisting, so it suits everywhere a part is meant to carry a force. Brass holds its shape, can be sanded, polished and filed to shape, and it solders well.
The cross-section of the bar is 2.5 x 2.5 mm, the length 305 mm, and there is one piece in the package. The bar is a semi-finished material, replaces no particular part of a model, and you cut the individual lengths from it according to your own needs. In dimension it lies between the sister bars of 2 and 3 mm of the same sub-range.
A solid square cross-section is used for the pins and axles of moving parts, for posts and uprights, for stops and catches on display models, for struts in dioramas and as ballast or a stiffener in places where a plastic part cracks. It also comes into its own as a precise gauge when aligning and gluing parts to a right angle.
Divide the bar with a fine saw for metal and then true the cut up with a file; a file alone will not cut it. Nippers will not cleanly cut through a solid brass section. Chamfer the ends so that the parts seat with no gap. You can join with cyanoacrylate glue, and at places under stress rather with two-part epoxy, or else by soft soldering; a solid section carries a lot of heat away while soldering, so reckon with a longer warm-up. Before painting, wash the bar, degrease it and apply a primer meant for metal, otherwise the paint will not hold on smooth brass.
Tools, glue and paints are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
