A plaque 25 mm in size with the designation of the SS Freiwilligen Grenadier Division Langemarck, an accessory for labeling a diorama or a display case.
Responsibility details are not available.
The plaque carries the name of a Waffen-SS unit of the Second World War. The word Freiwilligen in the designation means volunteer, and the name Langemarck refers to a place in Flanders the unit was named after. It is therefore a historical designation used in a modeling scene like any other military symbol of that time: to document whom the scene or the displayed model represents.
A plaque 25 mm in size is a descriptive accessory, not a part of a model. It is placed on a base, on the front edge of the base of a diorama or on a shelf beside a displayed piece, and it tells the viewer which unit the scene claims. Collectors use it to label the individual pieces of a collection, so that they can be told apart at first glance in a larger display case and so that the labels on all the models look the same.
Try the position dry first and clean and degrease the edge of the base before settling it so that the joint holds; go by the manufacturer's instructions for the method of fixing. The size of 25 mm is deliberately small so that the plaque does not overpower the model itself. It looks best on a vertical surface roughly in the middle of the front edge, where it is legible but does not intrude on the scene. If you are labeling several pieces in a display case, keep the plaques on all of them at the same height.
For builders of dioramas on the subject of the Second World War and for collectors who want uniform descriptive plaques on their models. Paints, glue and varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
