White film in strips 2.5 mm wide. The size for the waterlines of ship hulls and for dividing large areas of a paint scheme.
Responsibility details are not available.
Two and a half millimeters belongs in the upper half of the range and is used differently from the fine formats. It is no longer a matter of outlining a detail but of dividing extensive areas: the waterline on the hull of a ship, the boundary between the upper and the lower finish of an aircraft or a band around the turret of a fighting vehicle.
On ship models this is the most common use of all. The transition between the side and the underwater section has to be at the same height along the whole length, or the model optically sits askew in the water and the error is obvious even from a meter away. The flexible carrier allows the strip to be led in a gentle arc that follows the shape of the hull while keeping a constantly even width.
How much that makes on the real subject: on a 1:35 build it corresponds to a band 8.8 cm wide, in 1:48 to a full twelve centimeters and in the ship scale 1:350 to as much as 87.5 cm. The same material therefore draws the outline of a hatch one time and a wide identification band visible from a distance another.
Advice on removal: peel a wider mask toward yourself and diagonally downward, not perpendicularly. The paint at the edge is thin and with a sharp pull even what should have stayed will come away. On long runs proceed in sections and hold the already released end, so that the strip does not undercut the layer along the rest of the run.
A small aid: read the size off a drawing, transfer it onto an auxiliary strip of paper and only then lead the boundary along both sides by it. A difference of a single millimeter between bow and stern creates the impression that the vessel is loaded to one side, and paint will not put that right afterwards.
