ABS strip 0.25 x 0.50 x 350 mm from AK interactive, 10 pieces in the package. The finest size of the range, for strips, frames and fine stiffeners.
Responsibility details are not available.
A modeling strip of ABS with a cross section of 0.25 x 0.50 mm and a length of 350 mm; the package holds 10 pieces. The numbers in the name are millimeters, not a scale. It is the finest size of the whole range, so it is material for small detail that is only suggested on the model.
ABS is tougher and less brittle than ordinary polystyrene. A thin strip can therefore be bent and wrapped around curved surfaces without cracking straight away, which makes all the difference at a quarter of a millimeter. The price for it is the bonding: ABS joins less well with ordinary liquid cement for polystyrene. Use a glue intended for ABS or a modeling solvent cement, or super glue, and try the joint on an offcut first.
Cut the thin strip on a hard surface with a sharp scalpel in one pass; repeated cutting frays the edge. Glue it in short sections and keep pressing it down as you go, because a long strip tends to lift before the joint sets. Once it has dried it is worth sanding the transitions down lightly and spraying the area with primer: only on a single-color surface can you tell whether the strips are straight and parallel.
For modelers who fine-tune detail and add missing elements, and for builders of mock-ups and diorama structures where a reliably straight thin strip is needed.
Carry out the cutting and the sanding with safety in mind and do not leave small offcuts within the reach of children.
