Rust, streaks and wet steel

The Super Pack for ships and submarines from AMMO of Mig Jimenez is an eleven-part bundle aimed solely at ships and submarines. The hull of a vessel ages differently from a ground vehicle: it is not a matter of dust and mud but of rusty trails running down from rivets and anchor hawses, of salt settled above the waterline, and of surfaces that are permanently damp.

What is in the set

• a dark brown wash for bringing out rivets and engraved lines
• four Oilbrusher oil sticks: medium gray, rust, dark brown and a murky green-gray

• the Slimy Grime Light effect for slimy deposits

How to work with it

Apply the oil and enamel sticks to a surface that is already dry and clear coated. Then draw the thin mark vertically downward with a brush moistened in the enclosed thinner and let it fade out toward the keel. A wash, by contrast, is allowed to run into the hollows and the excess is wiped away. The wet surface effect belongs at the very end, over a patina that is already finished.
