TS-71 Smoke 100ml

Tamiya TS-71 Smoke (100 ml spray, made by Tamiya)

A spray paint from the Tamiya TS range. The binder is a synthetic lacquer. Unlike ordinary paints, TS-71 is a transparent tinting lacquer in a smoke shade. It serves to smoke and darken transparent parts, not to cover them fully. The can holds 100 ml and is ready for immediate use.

What the paint is and what it is not

• It IS a transparent tinting lacquer for glazing, windows and the covers of lights and canopies, where it creates a smoked tint.
• Applied over polished chrome it gives the effect of dark (black) chrome.
• It is NOT an opaque black or gray paint and will not cover a surface opaquely.
• You control the strength of the tint by the number of layers; each further one darkens the surface.

Use

• Apply it in thin layers onto a clean and smooth transparent part and check the depth of the darkening as you go.
• Do not apply it over an enamel base, the lacquer spray could attack it.

Who it is for

For modelers of cars and aircraft who want to tint glazing, headlights or canopies, or to create the effect of dark chrome.

The spray is flammable; work in a well-ventilated area away from sources of fire and protect your airways. It is not recommended for clear polycarbonate (Lexan) RC bodies; use the Tamiya PS range for those.
