This distorted kit from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi captures the main battle tank Type 10 of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force in a cute shortened form. The point of interest of this release is the choice: according to the name the model can be built either in the standard version or with a dozer blade at the front, of the kind the real machines use for engineering work. The model is not in scale — the playful proportions are the style of the whole line.
The Type 10 is the newest main battle tank of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, introduced after 2010. It went for compact dimensions and lower weight, modular armor and a 120 mm gun with an autoloader; modern electronics for sharing information between machines are a matter of course. The version with a dozer blade serves to shape the terrain, remove obstacles and prepare firing positions.
Before building, decide which form you want — the clean standard silhouette, or the working version with the blade, which gives the model more bulk. Painting can be managed with a brush in the modern Japanese two-tone camouflage of green and brown; the blade suits worn edges and traces of soil made with pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
