Small parts inside a model behave differently from large areas, and the gray Lifecolor Grey FS36176 is made for them — for levers, consoles, bezels and small units.

Small parts in a cockpit and in bays are not reduced large areas. A lever, the bezel of an instrument or a hose bracket has so small a face that a shade shows on it differently: it looks darker and more saturated than the same tone laid on a wall. Anyone who paints a whole interior one shade gets a space in which all the small items merge with the background. A gray shade with a reference to the Federal Standard in its name is rewarding for exactly this fine work.
The basis is to set them apart from the background, not to emphasize them at any cost. When a wall has a darker tone, give the small parts this one a step different and leave the boundary between them without emphasis — the eye will find the difference by itself. On the parts that are to stand out distinctly on the model, add a thin line of dark wash around the base; it looks like the shadow the part casts. And count on small items painted on the body of the model looking different from ones painted separately, so it is advisable to check the result only in the space they belong to.
Store out of the reach of children and work in a ventilated space.
