Desert sun deals with cloth quickly. Shoulders, the upper sides of sleeves, the crown of headgear and the backs of pouches lose saturation sooner than the rest of a uniform and shift toward a light, slightly dulled green. Light IDF Green from Lifecolor is a water-based acrylic paint that covers this end of the scale.
There is no point in spreading the lightening evenly. The best result comes when it keeps to the places where light would really fall: on the edges of folds, on the tops of shoulders, on the front of the thighs of a seated figure. Leave the rest of the uniform at the middle value. The light tone also suits the items of equipment that have been in use longest and have the most worn surfaces, so it takes care of itself that a figure does not look assembled out of new kit. On large areas, such as the back of a pack, it is better to add light gradually and in thin steps, so that the tone does not jump into a patch that looks white.
For figure painters working with the modeling of light and shadow and for builders of dioramas where it is to be clear at first glance that the equipment has some history behind it.
Stir the contents of the package before every use. Store tightly closed at room temperature and out of the reach of children.
