The Pattern M40 waxed outer coat has a tone of its own in the Lifecolor line, namely the acrylic paint German WWII Waxed Coat M40.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item of the Lifecolor figure range is a water-based acrylic paint and its name is aimed at the Pattern M40 outer coat with a waxed finish. The shade is therefore assigned in the palette to a particular garment, not to a whole figure.
Waxed cloth differs from ordinary uniform cloth above all in how it handles light: the edges of the folds seem somewhat more pronounced and the areas read as more unified. On a figure that means working with slightly narrower highlights than on a tunic and leaving a larger part of the area in the base tone. Mix the shadow here too from the same shade, so that the coat does not look as though cut from another figure. Keep the step between shadow and highlight small, or the unified impression of proofed cloth is lost.
It will be chosen by the figure painter who wants a separate tone for the outer layer of clothing and does not want to mix it by hand every time. It also serves where a scene has several figures and each needs a slightly different outer layer. The shade stays the same every time, which is almost impossible to repeat with hand-mixed tones.
Keep out of the reach of children, work in a ventilated room and do not combine the paint with food.
