The upper surfaces of American Second World War aircraft carried an olive green which the acrylic paint US Olive Drab FS 34087 from Lifecolor offers as a shade on its own for aircraft as well as ground models.

The olive brownish-green US Olive Drab FS 34087 is among the cornerstones of the American aircraft camouflage scheme of the Second World War period. It covered the upper surfaces of machines that were to blend with the landscape when seen from above and, together with a light gray on the lower surfaces, it made up the two-color finish worn by most American aircraft of the first half of the war.
It appears across the types of the US Army Air Forces: on fighters, on medium as well as heavy bombers and on transport machines. In service it behaved as one of the least uniform colors of its time: sunlight, operating fluids and repainting shifted it toward browner as well as grayer positions, so two aircraft of the same unit could look noticeably different. In the second half of the war the US Army Air Forces moved away from camouflage and machines flew in bare aluminum, so the olive stayed mainly on older types, on ground hardware and on machines operating over Europe in the early years.
It will be reached for by modelers of American aircraft who want the basic green available on its own and do not want to have to combine it from other paints. It also suits figure painters and builders of dioramas, where an olive surface repeats on several objects and a uniform tone has to be kept.
Store the paint well closed and out of the reach of children, and ventilate when working in a closed room.
