The light gray shade Light Gull Grey listed in the Federal Standard color standard under the number 36440. It is one of the best-known grays of American aircraft: in combination with a white underside it formed the basic scheme of the carrier-based aircraft of the US Navy for decades. The number from the standard is an unambiguous specification when building, so the shade can be looked up again or compared with another source at any time. The item belongs to the Lifecolor range.
Shake the bottle properly before use, so that the settled pigment is stirred through the whole volume. Use the thinner intended for this range and the thinning ratio as instructed by the manufacturer on the packaging; a foreign thinner may curdle the paint. Light grays are demanding of the surface, because everything underneath shows through a thin coat. It therefore pays to wash, degrease and unify the surface with a base color and only then to apply several thin coats.
The paint suits builders of American carrier-based aircraft and everyone who works by numbers from the standard and needs the shade documented. It will also serve as a light tone when brightening areas and when working on models where gray meets white.
Thinner, brushes, an airbrush and the model are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
