A light gray and the role of the horizon
A light tone had a clear purpose on British ships: in northern waters, where the sky is pale and visibility long, a ship with a light gray was lost sooner than a dark silhouette. On a model the shade finds use either over whole vertical surfaces or as the light field of a scheme that combines several tones. The horizontal surfaces stay aside: the decks have colors of their own and a light gray would needlessly make them stand out when seen from above. The lower limit remains the waterline.
For modelers of British ships who build units in the light Admiralty version, and for those who want to add a third, lightest member of the series to the medium and the dark tone. Suitable for smaller scales too, where a lighter shade helps keep the detail readable.
Keep out of the reach of children, work with good ventilation and close the container carefully after use.
