1:72 MiG-29 9-12 3D-Printed and coloured Interior on decal paper is a Quinta Studio interior set in 1:72 scale. The parts are three-dimensional and printed in color on decal backing paper, so they are applied to the parts of the kit just like ordinary decals - they are not glued or bent like photoetch. It is not a kit but an accessory for a model already bought. The set is cut for the Great Wall Hobby kit; with interior sets that is an essential detail, because the same MiG-29 is also released in versions for other kits and the shape of the parts differs.
The MiG-29 in the 9-12 version is the basic production version of the twin-engine frontline fighter. The cockpit has classic analog instrumentation with a large number of tiny dials, switches and labels. That is exactly what is hardest to imitate in a small scale: ordinary paint and a dry brush tend to clog the detail up, whereas color printing with layering keeps the legibility even in 1:72.
First paint the parts of the kit onto which the set will be applied and let them dry perfectly; the surface should be smooth, degreased and polished over with a gloss varnish. Cut the parts out one by one, soak them briefly in lukewarm water and move them with tweezers and a soft brush. Blot the excess water away and press the part down so that it adheres over its whole area. Do not use a softener or a setting solution - they would attack the printed resin and ruin the part. Leave the cockpit flat once it has dried, as a sheen would suppress the legibility of the instruments.
The package contains an interior decal set. The kit, paints and varnishes are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
