A turned metal barrel of the American 75 mm M3 gun in 1:56 scale, the scale used for tabletop wargames and smaller dioramas. It replaces the plastic part of a kit of the Sherman M4 medium tank. In this scale a plastic barrel is especially thin and bends easily; a metal one stays straight and will take frequent handling during play.
The 75 mm M3 gun was the basic armament of most Shermans. It was no anti-armor specialist but a general-purpose weapon: it fired high-explosive ammunition well against infantry and fortifications and could also deal with lighter armored vehicles. It is that versatility that lies behind the Sherman with the M3 being the most widespread version and behind its appearance on every front from North Africa to the Pacific.
Degrease the metal before gluing and try the fit in the turret mantlet dry. Use super glue or epoxy. Metal needs a primer, or the paint will quickly rub off during play, and on models for tabletop games the durability of the finish is what matters. Darken the muzzle and pick the rest out only lightly with a dry brush.
This is an accessory for a model and does not contain the model itself. Paints, glue and the kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
