A self-adhesive masking set from SX-Art for the model of the Hanomag SS-100 heavy road tractor in 1:72 scale. It is neither a kit nor parts for a model but a sheet of pre-cut masks for painting finished parts. In a small scale a pre-cut mask is the surest route to a sharp edge, because cutting strips of tape by hand is at the limit of what can be done here. Dimensionally it is based on the Takom kit.
The glazing consists of a split windshield and the side windows of the cab, that is, a fairly simple set of straight frames. The other items on this vehicle are more interesting. The wheels above all: the tractor stands on large wheels with massive tires, and the precise border between the dark rubber and the lighter disc is one of the few things on a 1:72 vehicle model that catch the eye immediately. Then there are the glasses of the large free-standing headlights, which are meant to stay clear. The contents of the sheet are not stated here, so check before you buy which of these items the set covers.
Degrease the parts and let them dry. Lift the mask off with tweezers, lay it down dry and press the edge with a soft tool. On the wheels it is essential to center the mask exactly on the disc, or the rubber transition will be lopsided. Spray the paint in thin coats at a right angle to the edge. A vehicle model is nearly always weathered, so take the mask off right after spraying and apply washes, filters and pigments only onto a finished and dry coat.
