Six gray shades for the pixel scheme of the Ukrainian Air Force. The second part of the series, this time in the gray variant of the pattern, with references to the FS, RAL and ANA standards.

Digital camouflage differs from classic blotches in that the edges of the fields break up into small squares. The Ukrainian Air Force introduced this pattern in two color forms and this set covers the gray one; the blue variant came out as the first part, which is listed separately.
The pixel fields are sprayed through a cut mask, or applied with a brush square by square, which takes longer but in a small scale comes across more naturally. You work from the lightest tone toward the dark ones, so that the transitions do not dirty the light fields. Six shades in one box have the advantage that nothing has to be mixed and that the shades hold the same character over the whole area.
The references to the FS and RAL standards make it easier to combine them with paints from other manufacturers, because the number of the standard is a common language across brands. It also helps with touch-ups, when you need to add one tone and already have the rest of the palette at home from another range.
Digital patterns tend to look sharper in a photograph than they come across on a real machine: seen from a distance, the fields merge optically into a single area. On a model it therefore helps to knock the contrast between the fields back slightly with a final clear coat, as otherwise the result looks hard. The set serves to paint a finished model; it contains neither a kit nor masking material.
