Six Hataka Orange Line lacquer paints let you build the Su-34 frontline bomber in its original green-blue pattern and in today's uniform gray.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Su-34 entered service in a markedly different camouflage from the one it wears today, and this selection lets you build both appearances. The original pattern combined three green-blue tones, Dark Green-Blue, Medium Green-Blue and Light Green-Blue, into a softly graded camouflage on the upper surfaces. The lightest of the three also covered the lower surfaces, and did so even after the upper pattern changed.
Present-day machines are resprayed in a uniform gray with an eggplant cast, represented by Dark Grey. The remaining two tones are aimed at the radio-transparent parts: Traffic White matches the antenna covers in both patterns, whereas Fog Grey suits some of the machines from the original three-color batch, on which these covers were noticeably darker.
The transitions between the green-blue fields are soft on the real aircraft, so it pays to spray from a shorter distance and without masks, or with the mask held off the surface. The Orange Line binder is a lacquer and the dried film resists rubbing better than water-based acrylics, which is useful at the moment when decals and a picking-out wash go over the camouflage.
The six tones cover the whole machine including the antenna covers, so a model can be finished without buying further bottles.
Anyone who builds both machines side by side will appreciate that the light green-blue and the white serve in both forms, so the consumption is spread evenly between the two builds. The difference between the original and the present-day appearance is so great that a pair of models of the same type looks like two different aircraft in a display case.
