Six acrylic shades for the blue-gray scheme of the American aggressor squadrons, including a French blue and an air superiority shade to the FS standards.
Responsibility details are not available.
After its experience in Vietnam, the US Air Force founded opponents of its own. The squadrons that are called aggressors fly ordinary types, but they are flown by men trained in a foreign tactic and their machines wear camouflage schemes imitating the Soviet equipment of the day. A practice fight thus takes place against an enemy who behaves differently from a comrade in the squadron next door.
The blue group of schemes is among the most striking. It combines several grays from a darker one through a medium one to a very light one and supplements them with two blue tones: one more saturated, close to the color used on French machines, and one light, known from the finishes intended for combat at high altitude. The result is a coat that vanishes against the sky and looks cold and unusual from close up.
Working with the palette. The six shades are tied to the federal standard of shades, so they can be combined with the paints of other makers without mixing tones of your own. They are applied with an airbrush in two or three thin layers, between which a short pause is enough. The boundaries between the fields in these schemes are drawn both softly and sharply depending on the particular machine, so it pays to have both a loose mask cut from a stencil and adhesive tape to hand. Before decals we recommend a gloss intermediate varnish and a matte one after them.
