A universal stencil for spraying chipped and worn paint. It is not tied to one model, and you will use it on vehicles, aircraft and figures alike.
Responsibility details are not available.
The stencil serves for spraying chipped and worn paint. Instead of laboriously stippling with a sponge or a brush, the shape of the flaked finish is sprayed through a cut-out pattern, so the result is irregular and yet equally fine across the whole area. It is not tied to one particular model: it comes into its own on vehicles, aircraft, buildings and figures.
The stencil always goes on the model before spraying, never onto dried paint. Lay it on the surface and press it down so that paint cannot creep underneath; how it is held in place and whether it can be used repeatedly is stated by the manufacturer on the package. Spray perpendicular to the surface, in light coats and with a small amount of paint, so that no mist gets under the edge. The effect looks convincing as long as it stays restrained: start where a machine actually wears, that is, on the edges, at walkways, around fasteners and near hatches. Choose a shade for the chipping only slightly different from the base color, as an over-contrasty spray looks unnatural. Test the pattern and the strength of the spray on a scrap piece before you work on the model. Clean the stencil after each use so that dried paint does not clog the cut-out pattern.
Paints, an airbrush and a model are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
