What is in the box

The set contains forty pieces of boards made of oak wood, intended for building dioramas in 1:32 and 1:35 scales. It is a material, not a finished product: the boards are cut to length, put together and glued according to what you need to build on the base.

Field of use

The boards go together into the floors and walls of sheds, pens and fences, footbridges and walkways, the shoring of trenches, pallets, crates or the plank beds of wagons. They also serve well as the cladding of a ruined building, as a surface under equipment bogged down in mud and as small items scattered around a scene that give a diorama its story. Because it is real wood, each piece has its own grain and takes up stain and paint differently; a finished surface therefore does not look like a repeated pattern.

Building and painting tips

Cut the boards with a sharp blade across the grain and sand the cut ends with fine sandpaper. You bring out the texture by running a wire brush or a point over the surface in the direction of the grain; there is no need to overdo it, though, as oak has quite a pronounced grain of its own. It is painted best with heavily thinned paint or with wood stain in several passes, so that the wood shows through. Weathered gray wood can be suggested with a faint hint of gray and brown over each other. Glue it with a dispersion glue for wood, and joints with a material of another kind with super glue. Let finished surfaces dry out thoroughly before you set them on the base, so that they do not warp.
