A 3D-printed set of starter crank handles in 1:35 scale for completing models of German vehicles of the Second World War. A detail accessory for a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of small parts in 1:35 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, made by 3D printing. It holds starter crank handles, that is, the hand cranks for turning an engine over that were carried as part of the equipment on German vehicles of the Second World War. It is not a kit but an accessory for a vehicle model or for a diorama.
A crank handle is a thin bent part that is practically impossible to render faithfully in an injection mold, while in photo-etched metal the round cross-section is missing. 3D printing manages both, so the part has the right profile as well as sharp ends. On a model it suits the brackets on the hull, the fender, the luggage compartment, or lying loose in a scene beside a figure.
Carefully separate the parts from the print supports, sand the marks back with fine abrasive paper, then rinse the components and let them dry. The material is harder and more brittle than injection-molded plastic, so handle thin parts with tweezers and glue them with super glue. Paint thinly so the detail is not clogged, put a dark base under the metal areas and add highlights where the equipment rubs against its brackets. A wash at the end will bring out the shape.
The set is an accessory for a kit. The model, the glue and the paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
