About product

What color this is

Light Earth is a light brown earthy tone from the palette of the Royal Air Force of the Second World War. British schemes of the period laid brown and green fields side by side on the upper surfaces, so that the machine seen from above would be lost against the landscape below it. A lighter brown works differently in such a combination than a dark one: it lightens the area optically and breaks up the impression of a uniform finish, which looks dead on a model. The layout of the fields and their exact shades changed during the war, so follow the real machine you are building.

How to work with the paint

Stir the contents of the package properly before use, as the pigment settles at the bottom during storage. The thinner, the thinning ratio and the cleaning follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging; use the product intended for this range. Apply in thin coats. A single heavy coat floods the fine surface detail, dries less well and is easily damaged. Let the surface become tacky between coats. The surface underneath must be clean and degreased, otherwise the paint peels off at the edges.

Transitions between the camouflage fields

A soft transition is made by an airbrush led smoothly along the boundary from a shorter distance and at lower pressure. A hard edge is made by masking tape applied before spraying; remove it as soon as the paint has become tacky, not after it has dried completely, otherwise it will tear the edge of the coat away with it.

Who it is for

The shade will be appreciated by modelers of British aircraft and by anyone looking for a muted earthy brown for figures, terrain or ground vehicles. The thinner, brushes and masking material are not included, unless stated otherwise.
