Tamiya X-9 Brown is a water-thinnable acrylic paint from the Japanese manufacturer Tamiya in a bottle holding 23 ml. The X line designation means a gloss surface — unlike the XF line, which is matte. That is essential when choosing: a gloss brown shade suits places where a surface should reflect light (varnished wood, worn leather, wet deposits) and at the same time makes an ideal base under decals, because no silvering appears on gloss. Tamiya acrylics hold on common modeling plastics, on wood and on resin, cover well and mix easily with one another.
For modelers of all levels. Brown is one of the colors that must not be missing from the box — you need it on aircraft (wooden propellers, cockpit details), on ships (decks), on military vehicles (mud, rust, wooden loads) and on figures (leather, equipment). Beginners like the fact that Tamiya acrylics can be worked with water and that fresh paint washes off with clean water before it dries; advanced modelers appreciate the behavior when spraying and the possibility of mixing with other Tamiya shades. For full control with an airbrush we recommend thinning with X-20A — water thins the paint, but it does not give as stable a result.
The paint is a chemical product. Use in a well-ventilated area and use a respirator and eye protection when spraying. Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes, keep out of the reach of children and away from food. Close the bottle tightly after use. Follow the safety marking given on the packaging by the manufacturer.
