Three pairs of acrylic shades for the light interiors of vehicles: gray, yellow and brown, each in a base and a lightened position. Six bottles in a box.

The inside of a combat vehicle used to be light for an entirely practical reason. The crew worked in gloom behind closed hatches and a light surface reflected the little daylight that got inside. Designers therefore reached for ivory, pale yellow or light gray, while the darker tones stayed on the floor, where oil and mud appeared soon enough anyway. This box covers precisely such surfaces with three color lines instead of one.
The package is formed by six bottles grouped in twos. The first pair is gray and leads from a cool darker tone to a pale gray. The second is yellow, from a rich one to a pale creamy one. The third works with brown, from a deep dark one to an orange-tinged light one of the kind that suits wood, leather and upholstery. Unlike the darker sets of the same line, a separate shadow tone is missing here, because with light surfaces the darker color of the pair stands in for it.
The darker member of the pair is applied over the whole surface, the lighter one is added only where the light falls. The transition can be softened with a thinned intermediate coat or with a light overspray from a greater distance. Only onto a finished base come the details — levers, cabling, instruments — and finally the emphasis of the joints with a dark wash. A modeler building an open vehicle or a model with a hatch folded back therefore gets three differently tuned interiors from a single package and does not have to open further boxes for them.
