The brand has made a whole family of variants of this vehicle which differ from one another precisely in the type of turret; it is always given right in the name, so it can be used to choose reliably. The Panhard 178 was a four-wheeled armored car of the French army, introduced in the second half of the 1930s as a reconnaissance vehicle for cavalry units. It had a crew of four, all-wheel drive and a rotating turret with a cannon completed by a machine gun. Alongside the production turret, a range of alternative solutions appeared on the type, whether as a project to strengthen the armament or as a replacement for unavailable original turrets. The Renault-Restany designation belongs to that group of alternative turrets and gives the vehicle a different silhouette to its upper part.
Work over a flat tray and cut the small parts off with a sharp knife rather than breaking them away. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts: thin cement for plastic on plastic, cyanoacrylate on resin. Set the turret in place dry while the hull is not yet painted; it makes the work easier and allows cleaner transitions of shade. Apply thin layers of paint, because a heavy layer in this scale floods the engraving. A dark wash into the seams and a fine dry brush along the edges will take care of bringing the shapes out. Dust and mud effects around the wheels and the lower hull will give a small model scale and settle it into its surroundings.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
