K-Am-S 41 Pod vrskem is a small model of an object of the Czechoslovak heavy fortifications in 1:1000 scale from the Czech maker ROP o.s.

The model captures an object of the Czechoslovak heavy fortifications listed as K-Am-S 41 with the period name Pod vrskem. It is made by the Czech association ROP o.s., which has long devoted itself to models of the Czechoslovak border fortifications and keeps a continuous numbered series of dozens of objects in this scale. The 1:1000 scale is among the smallest worked with in modeling: a finished object measures only a few centimeters and behaves rather like a collector's model than like a conventional kit.
The fortifications built in the second half of the thirties rested on the principle of mutual fire support. The individual casemates followed one another so that the embrasures of each covered the approaches of its neighbors; an object therefore did not defend itself from the front but from the flank. Its placement in the ground was part of that thinking — the objects were set into slopes and cover, so that the front wall and an earth bank would absorb direct fire. The name Pod vrskem matches the period practice of naming objects after landmarks in the surroundings.
Concrete at this scale must not be a uniform gray surface. What works best is a lighter base, over which a dark wash goes into the joints and the embrasures and then a fine dry brush along the edges. Mix the shades toward the cool side and keep color patches in check. Bring a groundwork base, if one is included, to life with static grass of different lengths and a fine pigment that ties the transition between growth and soil together. Given the size of the parts it pays to dry-fit everything and only then to apply glue in the smallest possible amount.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
