Responsibility details are not available.
A model of a particular object of the Czechoslovak border fortifications in 1:1000 scale. This range is built on a different logic from an ordinary kit: it is not one striking piece for a display case but a tile in a mosaic. Anyone who obtains several neighboring numbers gets the real spacing and the mutual relationships of the objects in the line, that is exactly what cannot be seen on a single model in any larger scale.
The designation K-S 4 belongs to an object in the Kraliky section. The cover name U cesty, meaning by the road, refers to the lie of the ground at the building site; roads were among the places the fortifications closed off first, because they offered the easiest way into the interior. The objects were built in the second half of the 1930s as part of a continuous system in which each structure had the role given it by its position in the terrain.
Painting concrete in this scale is mainly a question of contrast, not of shade. A light base into which a dark wash is run works well: the wash itself draws out the joints and the edges. Richer colors, by contrast, flood the shape. If you are setting the object into terrain with a road, it pays to make the road only a shade lighter than the surrounding soil and to suggest the ruts with pigment; a sharp white dirt road looks unnatural in 1:1000 scale. Glue the model to a base only after painting, so that you can work from all sides, and disguise the joint at the foot of the object with soil.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
