ROP o.s. 1:1000 MO-Sm-S 38 V lese is a small model of a fortification work of the Czechoslovak heavy fortifications.
Responsibility details are not available.
A model of the MO-Sm-S 38 work with the cover name V lese in the 1:1000 map scale. The cover names of the works came from the surrounding terrain, so the name itself already suggests the setting in which the structure stood. A model in this scale is small, but all the more easily set into models and displays, where what matters above all is the placing and the mutual relationships of the works.
Works of the heavy fortifications were reinforced concrete structures built in the second half of the 1930s. They were set into the terrain so that the front wall faced the expected direction of attack and stayed as well covered as possible, while the embrasures pointed to the flank along the line. Wooded and broken terrain placed particular demands on the siting: a clear field of fire had to be kept and at the same time the work had to be hidden from view from a distance.
Concrete in so small a scale looks best when it stays a restrained gray with a hint of warm or cool according to its surroundings. Use a thin base coat, a fine wash and a very careful highlighting of the edges, nothing more. If you set the model into a forest setting, count on the surrounding greenery taking some lightness away from it: so leave the concrete a shade lighter than would seem right. Choose static grass and leaves in this scale in the finest grade, as coarse materials would give the scale away at once.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
