1:1000 T-S 67 ,,Nad lomem,,

T-S 67, code-named Nad lomem, in 1:1000 scale (ROP o.s.)

A model of a particular work of the border fortifications in 1:1000 scale from ROP o.s. The series is divided by individual works: every model corresponds to one recorded structure of the given section, here the work with the serial number 67 and the code name Nad lomem. The scale is so small that the model is not meant to be an object of detailed finishing but an element of a larger whole. The material, the number of parts and the contents of the package are stated on the box.

The real subject

This is an infantry casemate, that is a reinforced concrete work of the heavy fortifications. Characteristic of it is the division into a thickened wall turned toward the expected direction of threat, side fighting rooms and a gorge wall with the entrance. The work was sunk into the terrain so that it stood out from its surroundings as little as possible.

Building and painting tips

Work in 1:1000 has different rules from a usual modeling scale. Before painting, look the model over with a magnifier and clean up only what disturbs the silhouette; an over-sanded edge will not come back. Apply the paint in thin layers, best with an airbrush or from a distance from a spray can, so that the engraving is not filled in. Writing out the embrasures or small elements with a brush does not pay off; it is more legible to work with shadow, that is a dark wash in the recessed places and a lighter tint on the upper surfaces. Judge the result from the usual viewing distance of a display case, not through a magnifier.

Who the model is for

• Collectors putting together the works of one construction section.
• Modelers who enjoy working in small scales.
• Builders of terrain models and teaching panoramas.
• Anyone interested in reinforced concrete structures and how they sit in a landscape.

The model is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue, terrain compounds and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
