An accessory for painting, not a kit. The set holds pre-cut masks for the model of the Airbus A320 airliner and its modernized A320neo version in 1:144 scale. Its purpose is that the windows stay sharply bounded and that the transition between the color of the fuselage and the glazing is achieved without measuring anything out by hand.
This is precisely where the difference against a military model lies. A combat aircraft has one cockpit canopy; an airliner has, on top of that, a long row of dozens of identical cabin windows, where you notice immediately whether they are evenly spaced and the same size. In 1:144 scale these are dots at the limit of what can be cut by hand. Add to that the doors, the emergency exits and the front glazing of the flight deck with its characteristic angled shape. On a scheduled airliner the row of windows is a recognition feature, so the overall impression of the model rests on getting it right.
Even the fuselage out with primer first, because white and light liveries reveal every joint. Stick the masks onto cured primer, not fresh primer, or they will lift it off with them. The base white or light shade follows, then the colors of the livery. Take the mask off only after the last coat of varnish and before the decals go on, so that a decal cannot reach the edge of the mask and break over it. Lift the window pieces off one at a time with the tip of a scalpel; tearing a whole strip off at once usually takes a piece of paint with it.
The package holds masking material only. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
