1:144 AV-8B Wheels is a resin set of wheels for a model of the AV-8B Harrier II attack aircraft in 1:144 scale, an accessory to a kit that you obtain separately.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set replaces the plastic landing gear wheels with castings in modeling resin. Resin is cast in silicone molds with no parting plane across the tread, so the tire pattern and the relief of the hub stay sharp, in exactly the place where injected plastic usually loses. The accessory is intended for 1:144 scale and is made by Brengun of the Czech Republic. The aircraft model is not included in the package.
The AV-8B Harrier II is a single-seat attack aircraft with vertical take-off and landing. It has an unusual landing gear layout: a main wheel under the fuselage, a nose wheel at the front and two outrigger struts at the wingtips. So on this type the wheels are not an afterthought but a conspicuous part of the silhouette, and their quality is clearly visible on a model. Operating from unpaved surfaces and ship decks also means the tires tend to be marked.
First wash the mold release agent off the resin castings, otherwise paint will not hold. Cut the casting block off with a fine-toothed saw or a cutting disc in a mini drill; never snap it off, as the casting would crack. Sand the remainder of the block wet, as resin dust should not be inhaled. Before gluing, try the wheel dry on the landing gear leg: resin pins tend to be thicker than plastic ones and the hole occasionally needs opening out slightly. It is bonded with super glue, best applied with a pin in a minimal amount.
The accessory set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
