Resin engine nacelles for a model of the Airbus A321neo in 1:144 scale. The set replaces the parts from a base kit and is fitted to the pylons under the wing. It is not a model of the aircraft, but a detail accessory to one.
The A321neo is the longest member of the modernized range of single-aisle Airbus aircraft and with its higher takeoff weight it reaches for the most powerful ratings of the LEAP-1A engine. Externally it is the same family as on the shorter versions, but the engine calls for a matching installation and the manufacturer of the accessory therefore makes the sets for the individual versions separately. Choose the one, then, that matches the aircraft on your workbench. A characteristic feature of the whole generation is the massive nacelle with a large intake diameter, which compared with the previous family of engines takes up substantially more room under the wing and is one of the first features by which the modernized range is recognized from the older machines even in profile.
Resin is harder and more brittle than plastic, so the thin edges of the cowlings break off if handled carelessly. When that happens, the joint can be saved with super glue and the small step sanded over, but prevention is simpler: put the parts down on a soft surface and do not hold them by the edges. A casting that arrives slightly deformed can usually be put right by dipping it in hot water for a moment and returning it to a straight shape by hand, not by force. Cut the pour blocks away with a saw, wash the mold release agent off before gluing and protect your airways while sanding.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
