A resin weapon set from Mark I for models of the carrier-borne Sea Venom in 1:144 scale. It serves to add the underwing stores that a base kit at such a small scale usually does not offer in the quality needed, or does not offer at all. This is an accessory, not a model of the aircraft. The particular make-up and number of parts are stated on the box.
The de Havilland Sea Venom was the carrier-borne version of the Venom, a type with a characteristic pair of tail booms and a short fuselage. Unlike the land-based single-seat guise it was a two-seat all-weather and night fighter with radar and with the crew seated side by side. The structure was adapted for operation from aircraft carriers — strengthened landing gear, an arrestor hook and folding wingtips. It served in the 1950s with the Fleet Air Arm and with other users.
Wash the resin parts first in lukewarm soapy water — there tends to be mold release residue on the surface, under which neither glue nor paint will hold. Do not snap the casting blocks off: cut them away with a saw or a separate cut and sand the remainder down, ideally wet and with respiratory protection, because resin dust should not be breathed in. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); for small parts a drop applied with a toothpick is enough, and the joint can be speeded up with an accelerator. Before painting we recommend a primer — resin is smooth and paint holds on it less well on its own. Always try the mating surfaces dry and make up any differences against the plastic by sanding, not by force.
