This item is an accessory set from the Czech maker Brengun, not a kit in its own right. It holds miniature American jerrycans for fuel in 1:144 scale, which are placed beside a finished model, on the parking area of a field airfield or straight into a diorama. It is precisely in such a small scale that a handful of correctly placed jerrycans does more for the credibility of a scene than another detail on the machine itself.
During the Second World War the American army introduced a five-gallon jerrycan of its own, of roughly nineteen liters, closed by a screw cap. The jerrycans were carried by the dozen on trucks, were stacked in piles at field dumps and accompanied air and ground units everywhere fuel was replenished away from fixed infrastructure. Thanks to that they are among the most universal diorama accessories and suit scenes from North Africa through western Europe to Pacific airfields.
First clean and degrease the small parts carefully, so that the primer holds on them. It pays to paint them before they are separated from the carrier part, because they are far easier to hold in the hand. Apply a thin primer, spray the base shade with an airbrush and only then finish the scuffs with a brush. A dark wash will bring out the pressings and the handles, while fine drybrushing pulls the edges out. Jerrycans in a scene never look new: a combination of dust, rust and spilled fuel around the neck is what makes the result believable.
The set is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
