A decal sheet from the specialist Aviattic brand with the German naval Naval Hex pattern in 1:144 scale, in a printed fabric version on white decal paper. This is not a kit: these are decals in which the white backing guarantees full coverage and faithful rendering of the colors regardless of the shade of the surface beneath them.
Naval Hex is the hexagonal camouflage grid of German naval aircraft of the First World War, the naval counterpart of the polygonal lozenge. The Printed Linen version imitates factory machine printing with a sharp, regular grid. White decal paper is the practical choice where you do not want the final tone to be affected by the color of the surface beneath, because the colors of the pattern stay saturated and accurate even on a darker or uneven surface. Versions on clear backing, by contrast, let the surface show faintly through.
Prepare the model with a smooth gloss clear. Cut the sheet exactly to the outlines of the parts, because a white backing forgives overhangs less readily than a clear one, so trim the edges carefully. Setting solutions will help the decal settle onto the ribs and the raised detail; once dry, even the surface out with a matte clear coat for an authentic fabric look.
The decals are supplied unapplied. Setting solutions and clear coats are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
