About product

1:144 XC-8A Buffalo - US Army / CAF (DHC-5) (Amodel)

An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:144 scale from the manufacturer Amodel. It captures the de Havilland Canada DHC-5 Buffalo aircraft in the XC-8A test configuration, with the option of building it in the markings of the US Army or of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). The small scale suits collectors and display-case collections. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.

The real subject

The DHC-5 Buffalo is a Canadian twin-engine turboprop transport aircraft with a high-mounted wing and short take-off and landing capability (STOL). The XC-8A designation goes with machines used for tests and experimental programs. The aircraft is prized for its ruggedness and for operating from short, unpaved surfaces.

Building and painting tips

We recommend gluing with thin cement for plastic and dressing the joints carefully. Apply primer before painting; an airbrush is ideal. Mask the cockpit and the clear parts, and the panel lines can be picked out with a delicate wash.

Who the model is for

  • collectors of aircraft in 1:144 scale
  • anyone interested in test and experimental hardware
  • builders of display-case collections
  • modelers with experience of the smaller scales

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
