A resin StuG III drive sprocket, late form A from the MIAG plant, 1:16 scale — a replacement for the plastic running gear part. This is an accessory, not a kit of the vehicle.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin casting intended to replace the plastic drive sprocket on a large-scale model. It is not a kit of the vehicle but a single running gear part — one on which, seen from the side, absolutely everything shows.
The StuG III was built in two plants during the war and their products differed in small details — among them the form of the drive sprocket. This casting captures the late type from MIAG production. For the builder that means the part is not interchangeable with sprockets from the other plant or with the early version: if you are building a particular machine and have a photograph of it, the rim of the drive sprocket is one of the few things by which the production batch can be told at first glance. The sprocket also sits at the front, where the drive is, so neither a fender nor the tools on the hull will cover it.
Before gluing, wash the casting in warm water with detergent — mold release agent from the mold tends to be on the surface and paint would not hold on it. Cut the casting block off with a fine saw and sand the surface flat so that the sprocket seats square; in 1:16 even a small misalignment shows up in the track not going on in line. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, not with polystyrene cement. Sand wet and with a respirator.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
